Lynsey Addario / VII NETWORK for TIME

Dr. Hoda Ghania, 42, speaking into a microphone, holds a campaign rally in a relative's home in Cairo. A dermatologist, Ghania is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, but because of the ban, she must run as an independent.
