Some of those not lucky enough to receive food aid are trying to survive by foraging for fruits and berries in the surrounding woodland. Many of these require long cooking periods to remove toxins within — some are completely inedible — and the number of deaths due to poisoning reported in countries such as Zimbabwe is rising
