Describe your ultimate musical performance.
My ultimate musical performance would be if there were not one moment of self-consciousness and I felt the liberation that I get in little parcels sometimes. If I felt that through the whole concert, that would be the ultimate.

What makes country music the heart and soul of America?
Country music has traditionally been more about subject matter than just romantic love ... there've been deep, dark Appalachian songs about mothers, sadness, babies, death, family and travel and all those things that are so intrinsic to the American experience.

Favorite songs:
"Gimme Shelter," the Rolling Stones
"Here, There and Everywhere," the Beatles
"Born to Run," Bruce Springsteen
"Like a Rolling Stone," Bob Dylan
"Chain of Fools," Aretha Franklin
