Colbert asked for a sign that he should run for President in October 2007 and was later presented with one by Viggo Mortensen. The actor, who starred as Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings, appeared on The Colbert Report to present the host with a replica of Andúril, the sword Mortensen wielded in the movie, exclaiming, "You have my sword! What say you, my lord, what say you!" Colbert discounted the object as a letter opener but eventually ran for President. The favorite son of South Carolina, however, fell short in his home state's primary.
