After leaving Germany in 1933 upon Adolf Hitler's rise to power, Einstein headed for Princeton University, where he became a member of the Institute of Advanced Study's school of mathematics. Usually greeted with the cheering crowds granted a Hollywood star, Einstein took a moment in December 1934 to explain his equation E=mc2 to a group of reporters at Pittsburgh's Carnegie Institute of Technology.
