A support group for more than 100 at-home mothers, the Grosse Pointe Moms Club is a new wrinkle in the life of the Pointes, a cluster of five exclusive suburbs northeast of Detroit. Whereas an earlier generation of Grosse Pointe ladies would have avoided discussing money altogether, changes wrought by the economic crisis have led today's moms to compare grocery bills, exchange tips on how to save money and pool their resources for activities for their kids, like this visit to the Metro Beach Metropark's nature center.
