"I had driven through the Ninth Ward that day," recalls Golden of her visit to New Orleans in February 2010, when these photos were taken. "And it was the first time I had seen an apocalyptic scene like that. People lived their lives there, it was reality. Six Flags was a fantasyland where people went to escape reality. But now they have nowhere to escape to."
