Despite his undeniable talent, Maradona has struggled with obesity as well as cocaine addiction since his retirement from soccer in 1997. After several close calls, including a heart attack in 2004, Maradona sought help to rein in his excesses. Thanks to rehab and a gastric-bypass procedure that left him noticeably slimmer, Maradona has enjoyed a recent resurgence in his health and postplaying career.
