Theodore Roosevelt
An avid hunter, 26th President Theodore Roosevelt (seen here with a rhino he felled in Sotik, Kenya, in 1909) went on several African safaris, tours that collectively killed or trapped thousands of animals. He was later instrumental in the conservation of approximately 230 million acres of American soil, laying the foundation for the U.S. national park system.
