A work entitled The Destruction of the Father, she created in 1974. Bourgeois often said she drew upon her childhood anger over her father's infidelities as an inspiration for her work. "It is a very murderous piece," Bourgeois said, "an impulse that comes when one is under too much stress and one turns against those one loves the most."
