In late 1969, the Beatles had largely finished making the initial recordings for the songs that would become the albums Let It Be and Abbey Road. By that time, though, artistic differences had been eating away at the band for several years. John Lennon and Paul McCartney no longer collaborated as closely as they once did, while George Harrison resented that the group was slow to take his songwriting seriously.
