In Washington, the kids participating in the experiment did significantly better on standardized tests, but in other cities, this wasn't the case. In New York, the 6,000 kids who got money through the program did not display any easily measured improvement. In Chicago, kids came to class more often and got better grades, but did not do better on standardized tests at the end of the year.
