The Doors, 1991
Oliver Stone directed this ambitious biopic, portraying the history of the Doors through the life of the lead singer, Jim Morrison, played by Val Kilmer. Although based on real people and actual events, the film has been criticized by former bandmates for its inaccuracies, especially the way in which Morrison is portrayed as an "out of control sociopath". Keyboardist Ray Manzarek has been working on a documentary of the Doors set to be released this spring titled When You're Strange, which he considers to be "anti-Oliver Stone".
