Though he was highly admired in his lifetime, Miller has disappeared from view, in part because his work does not fit into a single artistic tradition or style, and also because his masterpieces, the four apartment buildings, cannot be shown in museums. All of the units were designed for living, and they remain occupied to this day by residents who have chosen to trade modern comfort for the opportunity to live in one of the artist's masterworks.
