The Way Forward in Iraq
Obama and Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki greet people at Camp Victory in Baghdad. In his April 2009 visit, the President said, "The U.S. pursues no claims on Iraqis' territory and resources. We respect Iraqi sovereignty and the sacrifices that you have made for your country. And we seek a full transition to Iraqi responsibility for the security and prosperity of the nation. The American people, through its troops, through civilians, have made enormous sacrifices here in Iraq."
