Rosemary Kennedy, 1918-2005
Known to family and friends as "Rosie," the third child of the Kennedy clan suffered from emotional problems, which the family opted to treat with a lobotomy when she was 23. The operation left her mentally incapacitated; she spent the rest of her life in institutional care.
