Contestants in the 1936 All-American Soap Box Derby roll across the finish line in Akron, Ohio. The brainchild of Dayton Daily News photographer Myron Scott, the first All-American race was held in Dayton on Aug. 19, 1934. The next year, the competition was moved to Akron.
