Rick Skow and his partner have built an elaborate system of ropes and pulleys that allow them to transport their equipment back and forth from the top of the canyon to the river. Because the Angeles National Forest is located on public land, there are no formal claims to the mineral rights of a given parcel of land or water. Still, the locals know who works where.
