Stations of the Cross
In order to provide a version of Via Crucis that was more closely aligned with biblical accounts, Pope John Paul II introduced the Scriptural Way of the Cross on Good Friday, 1991. In subsequent years, he celebrated it at the Colosseum in Rome, where Giansanti shot this epic photograph in 1996.
