The Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race covers 1,161 miles of some of the coldest terrain in the world. The racecourse moves from Willow (near Anchorage) to the Rainy Pass of the Alaska Range into Alaska's barren interior, along the shore of the Bering Sea, and finishes in Nome.
