Carnival in Cuba
Every Christmas Eve, Remedios, in Cuba, becomes the site of the traditional Parrandas, a religious carnival with drums, floats and fireworks. The Parrandas began 200 years ago, when the local priest sent altar boys onto the streets to bang on pots and pans to keep parishioners awake for Midnight Mass.
