Baker's Burden
William Wood, a parish beadle and baker from the 1840s, died at the ripe old age of 84. The extra bony growth on his spine is caused by a disease often seen in men who have a high protein diet and are overweight. The cause of his death was recorded as 'decay of nature'. He'd lost all his teeth too. Buried at Chelsea Old Church.
