Teens in America: Class Pictures

Emy
My mother's side of the family lives in Sweden. We usually spend summers there, on a small, very rural island in the Stockholm Archipelago. There are no roads, no cars, no flushing toilets. It's truly beautiful there, I love it. The water is perfect—it is cool, very cold actually, deep blue, and not too salty. I have learned the ways of the water, and how to interact with nature peacefully and effectively. I desperately want to make a difference, and save our planet before it's too late. I'm afraid that our society doesn't quite understand the significance of nature, that most people don't quite realize just how powerful it is. The destruction needs to stop, and I believe that it is my responsibility as an active, aware, and able young person to fight for a change! I know my efforts would make my grandfather proud.
