An avid outdoorsman for most of his life, Redford has stayed in good physical shape by riding horses, skiing, and hunting. Some of these talents have famously transferred to his on-screen roles. In 1998's The Horse Whisperer, Redford plays a man known for his unique ability to cure troubled horses. He both directed and starred — opposite British actress Kristen Scott Thomas, above — in the film.
