In connection with Wikipedia's 10th anniversary, Wales has made a personal appeal requesting donations from readers and users of the site. The donations would help cover the increasing costs of managing global traffic of the website along with improvements of software. Wales is committed to growing the free knowledge movement world-wide. "Like a national park or a school," he writes, "we don't believe advertising should have a place in Wikipedia. We want to keep it free and strong."
