Jimmy Wales is an American Internet entrepreneur best known for helping to start up the web-based encyclopedia, Wikipedia. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Wales earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in business from Auburn University and the University of Alabama, respectively. He began his career as a futures and options trader in Chicago, then, in the mid 1990s, turned his attention to the burgeoning Internet.
