The Fountain
After a deal to develop Batman Year One fell through, Aronofsky was tapped to direct a science fiction film that ultimately came to be called The Fountain. The stars originally cast to play the leads, Cate Blanchett and Brad Pitt, left the project seven weeks before the first day of shooting, but the film was resurrected in 2004, this time with Hugh Jackman and Rachel Weisz, above right, whom Aronofsky began dating; they became engaged in 2005 and have a son, Henry Chance, who was born in 2006, in New York City.
