Five years after she first struck gold, Swank would win her second Oscar in as many nominations for her role as the scrappy female boxer in Million Dollar Baby. Directed by and co-starring Clint Eastwood, the movie casts Swank as Maggie Fitzgerald, a waitress and amateur boxer who aspires to greater heights. Under the guidance of a trainer (Clint Eastwood, above left), she achieves professional success in the boxing ring.
