M. Night Shyamalan

Everett

Feature Film
The son of two doctors, Shyamalan's parents wanted their son to follow in their medical footsteps, but Shyamalan had big screen dreams for himself instead. In 1998, he would release his first major feature film, Wide Awake, above, starring Rosie O'Donnell, Dana Delaney and Denis Leary. Funded by the up-and-coming Miramax film production company, the movie was a commercial flop, recouping less than $300,000 of its original $6 million budget.
