Outlaw Willie
In Texas, Nelson met and recorded with a number of other musicians who were fed up with the Nashville system. Drawing on the sixties' counterculture, artists like Nelson, Waylon Jennings and Kris Kristofferson became known as country music's "outlaws" — a musical movement that rebelled against the clean cut sound of Nashville country. In 1978, Nelson (left) and Jennings teamed up to record the platinum-selling album Waylon and Willie.
