A vocal proponent of gay marriage, Hilton (far left, above) famously asked Miss USA 2009 pageant contestant Carrie Prejean her opinion on the issue when he served as a judge in the contest. Her reply — that she believed marriage should be between a woman and a man — sparked controversy and, some say, led to her loss of the crown to Kristen Dalton, shown here in the blue gown.
