WASHINGTON, D.C.: Today's deadly bombing attack in Jerusalem will not keep Madeleine Albright from traveling to the Middle East, President Clinton confirmed this afternoon. Speaking from his vacation retreat in Martha's Vineyard, Clinton said he would not allow terrorists to destroy the peace process.

"It's all the more important for Secretary Albright to go," he said. "It's important she go out and we keep pushing this thing." Echoing Benjamin Netanyahu, Clinton also called on Yasser Arafat to crack down on the Islamic militants who have claimed responsibility for today's blast.

TIME State Department correspondent Doug Waller reports the administration's decision is not surprising, given that it has long anticipated attempts to disrupt U.S. peace initiatives. "It's not like this attack came out of the blue," he said.
