MIAMI: The effort to understand why alleged serial murderer Andrew Cunanan may have embarked on a killing spree across America became a bit murkier with the news that he was not infected with the HIV virus when he killed himself. Although Florida law prohibits releasing the results of AIDS test, even after death, law enforcement sources told the Miami Herald that tests performed on Cunanan's body at the Dade County Medical Examiner's office show that he was not HIV-positive. The discovery sinks the most popular theory of the case, that Cunanan had a specific list of targets for revenge after learning he may have contracted the disease from a lover.
