TOGO: While Kabila was taking over in Kinshasa, Mobutu Sese Seko left his northern palace in Gbadolite just hours before rebel soldiers overran the town. A sick and broken Mobutu has taken up temporary residence in Togo at a home belonging to his old friend, Togolese dictator Gnassingbe Eyadema. Mobutu reportedly plans to leave for Morocco within the next few days, and may eventually end up at his home on the French Riviera even though longtime ally France has yet to offer asylum. But he may have a long wait before many family members join him. His eldest son, Kongulu, and 109 relatives remain stranded in Brazzaville, Congo after the plane crew Mobutu sent to ferry them out refused to fly anywhere.
