CHICAGO: It took only one lopsided loss to the Chicago Bulls for a sense of Sonic doom to overtake a team from Seattle already viewed as a group of hugely talented underachievers. By winning a hard-fought series with a stubborn Utah team in the Western Conference finals, the Sonics had largely erased the memory of first-round playoff flops in the past few years. Then came game one of the finals, where the Bulls defense harassed the normally sound Sonic offense into giving up the ball 18 times in a 107-90 win.
