Stocks finished down for the third day in a row, sending the Dow Jones industrial average down 38.30 points for the week, the market's first weekly decline since January 12. The Dow closed out Friday down 48.05 points to finish at 5,503.32. Declining issues led advances by about 7 to 6 on the New York Stock Exchange on a heavy volume of 432.38 million shares as of 4 p.m. The Standard & Poor's 500 fell 3.34 to 647.98, while the Nasdaq rose 0.17 to 1,090.71. In London, gold finished the day up $0.40 at $404.65.
