DAVIE, FLORIDA: For the second time in seven years, Jimmy Johnson is replacing a pro football coaching legend. In an afternoon press conference Thursday, Miami Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga made it official by nnouncing that Johnson, 52, would take over the Miami Dolphins. Head coach Don Shula resigned last week after posting more victories than any other coach in league history. Johnson's contract is for $8 million over four years, making him the highest paid coach in the NFL. "This makes the Dolphins a very dangerous team," said Emmit Smith of the Dallas Cowboys, the NFL's leading rusher. In 1989, Johnson replaced another legendary coach, Tom Landry of the Dallas Cowboys. In his fourth season with the Cowboys, Johnson led them to a Super Bowl victory, a feat he repeated the following year. After the Cowboys' second title, Johnson and Cowboy owner Jerry Jones decided that their personal differences hampered Johnson's ability to coach the team, and he stepped down after the 1993 season. He has been a television football analyst the past two seasons.
