Baseball's top hired gun, righthander David Cone, has finally found a home after signing a three-year, no-trade $19.5 million contract with the New York Yankees. The 33-year-old righthander's deal makes him the highest paid pitcher ever. The Baltimore Orioles were bidding for Cone's services, but Yankees owner George Steinbrenner topped them, then reduced his offer after hearing how much other teams were bidding. Cone stuck to his guns and got his money. The pitcher started the season with the Toronto Blue Jays and was fourth in the American League with 191 strikeouts.
