PLEASE DON'T FEED THE SENATORS

Dole had his priorities straight on Sunday, when he told a glum assembly in the Capitol that the National Zoo may have closed because of the shutdown, but the Senate doors remained open. "That ought to tell you something," he said. "We're here, but the bears are restless. In any event, maybe it ought to be the other way around. Close this (the Senate) down and open up the zoo. But if you can't get into the zoo maybe this is the next best choice."
