The Dow Jones industrial average closed at 5,105.56, up 27.46. It was the sixth consecutive record closing for the Dow. The New York Stock Exchange composite index rose 1.00 to end the day at 323.99. On the Big Board advancers led decliners 1,356 to 953, with 788 unchanged. Volume was heavy with 398.24 million shares traded. The technology-heavy Nasdaq composite index was up 6.36, closing at 1,056.41. The Standard & Poor's 500 stocks rose 1.21 to 607.66. The American Stock Exchange market value index was up 2.29 to 533.03. In London, gold closed at $389.65, up $1.10.
