On top of refusing to meet Dole and Gingrich face to face, Clinton brushed aside congressional calls to cancel a trip to Japan, where he is scheduled to attend an Asian economic summit this week. The President's trip may be shortened by two days, nut White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta says that Clinton's foreign policy goals would not be "held hostage."
