Several hundred French troops fanned out over Paris as the government tried to reinforce a safety net around a shaken city. There are currently about 20,000 soldiers and police officers on Paris' streets. "Honestly, a few hundred more is not going to make much of a difference," says Crumley. "More than two million people ride Paris' subways everyday. It is not humanly possible to check everyone's bags."
