Palm to Piggyback on Cell Phone Connections

Not to be overshadowed by Sony, Palm itself announced a pretty interesting product yesterday in New York that will help people use Palms to connect to the Internet.

For less than $50, the new Palm Internet Mobile Kit will make it possible to piggyback on Internet access through cell phones. Palm users will be able to "beam" the Web from their cell phones, using infrared ports if they're available (on most Ericsson and Nokia phones, for instance) and cables if they're not. Users on the go may end up choosing the cables in order to avoid having to hold a phone in one hand and a Palm in the other in an effort to simultaneously surf the Web and keep the IR ports synced up. The cables will allow users to stow their phones in a pocket or a bag and surf unencumbered.
