DOLE, POWELL IN DEAD HEAT

A new poll of New Hampshire Republicans finds that Colin Powell is virtually tied with Bob Dole. Of the 633 voters polled, 23 said they would vote for Powell if the primary were held today, compared to 22 percent for Dole -- essentially a tie, since the poll has a 5.3 percent margin of error. Perennial New Hampshire favorite Pat Buchanan would get 12 percent of the vote, with Lamar Alexander taking seven percent. The biggest winner among skeptical state party members? Undecided, with 27 percent.
