WEAVER FRIEND TESTIFIES

Kevin Harris, a friend of Randy Weaver who was involved in the Ruby Ridge siege, testified Tuesday that U.S. marshals started the gunfight that left William Degan, a marshal, and Weaver's son Samuel dead at Ruby Ridge, Idaho. "Harris is not a very credible witness," reports Elaine Shannon. "His comments came across as being very self-serving. He's already off the hook since his acquittal, and his testimony isn't going to shed any truth on the investigation." Marshals have testified that they were ambushed by the Weavers and that Harris shot Degan. Harris was acquitted on that charge.
