The House of Representatives is holding a garage sale: auctioning off the accumulated junk of the last 30 years so it can stop paying $235,000 in warehouse fees to store the stuff. Bargain-hunters in Washington this Saturday can bid on such "great deals" as former Speaker Jim Wrights chair and couch, brass candlesticks, file cabinets and dark mahogany chairs from various congressional offices and rich, leather bound volumes with titles like "Bill of Rights and Beyond." Every item comes with a certificate of authenticity, but no warranty.
