She appeared to fake crying, couldn't describe her children's kidnapper, and longed for a trip to the beach only days after her boys were abducted -- pretty strange behavior, say investigators who testified today at a hearing to determine whether jurors will hear statements made by Susan Smith before she confessed on November 3 to drowning her two sons. Those statements, say prosecutors, would demonstrate Smith is both a killer and calculated liar, for which she could face the death penalty. If judged innocent by reason of insanity, Smith would be committed to a mental hospital.
