Forty-two people were hospitalized in Yokahama after inhaling unidentified noxious fumes in two separate incidents investigators believe may have been inspired bythe deadly Tokyo subway gassings. On Sunday, 36 were injured when an unknown gas was released in a subway entrance. Today, six more people were treated after breathing something they described as smelling like "burning vinyl" in a supermarket. Police and fireman have not been able to identify the source of fumes. Unlike the hurt in the more deadly Tokyo incidents, none of the Yokahama victims were seriously injured.
