Now just imagine if a city guide used the same trick, making sure that restaurant openings and movie times were actually usable. Every time you hot-synched your Palm you'd have an up-to-date, searchable entertainment guide. Well, you don't have to today marks the official launch of Vindigo, an urban guidebook so slick that we think it could convert Palm holdouts, or at least force many old-school users to upgrade to a device capable of handling Vindigo's appetite for 400K of free memory.
Vindigo Is Good on the Go
The Palm handheld got its legs a few years ago
as a personal organizer, storing appointments,
addresses and, for true Graffiti adepts, maybe
even some notes. But for our money the real killer
app has been Avantgo, a service that downloads
updated web content such as the morning Wall
Street Journal headlines into your Palm. Even if
you don't have pricey wireless modem service,
Avantgo makes smart use of the desktop
"hotsync" (and Internet connection) to feed fresh
reading matter into the handheld device.
