Senate Majority Leader Bob Dole today urged President Bill Clinton to "get off the sidelines" and help to moveanti-terrorism legislationforward. Clinton responded with an appeal to Democrats and Republicans to "curb politics" and stop adding amendments to the anti-terror bill. Dole said yesterday that the Senate bill was bogged down by 67 Democratic amendments that would have to be debated, but a Democratic official said today that the amendments had been pared down to about 25 for each side. PresidentClinton said today that quick action is essential: "You can be sure terrorists around the world are not delaying their plans while we delay this bill."
